OVERVIEW

Northbridge Youth Lacrosse offers programs for girls starting in kindergarten and continuing up through 8^th grade. We take part in the West Central region of Massachusetts Youth Lacrosse and play an 8-game spring season that starts in April and runs through mid-June. Games are held on Sundays, and there will be one or two practices depending on the level and the coaches during the week. All regularly scheduled games are played on the turf at Lasell Field which is next to the Northbridge Middle School. Practices are held on the upper fields at the Northbridge High School.

COACHING

All the coaches in Massachusetts Youth Lacrosse are required to attend a training program on a yearly basis. This training covers items such as concussion awareness, abuse prevention and awareness and coaching skills. Above and beyond that, every head coach is required to attend a bi-annual in-person coaching clinic put on by Massachusetts Youth Lacrosse. This is an entire day or night of education, learning and networking with professional, college, high school and other MYL coaches. While it is only mandatory for the head coach to attend these training courses, most of our coaches take this program every two years.

EQUIPMENT

Girls who play lacrosse are required to wear a full complement of equipment at all practices and games. This includes but is not limited to:

Eye Protection (Goggles/Helmet)

Mouth Guard

Other than for the goalies, Northbridge Youth Lacrosse does not provide equipment for players. Starter packages can be purchased from several local businesses, many of which will offer discount codes to the league several times a year. NEW PARENTS

Are you new to lacrosse? Never played it or even heard of it? Not to worry, many of our parents have never played the game before, but that’s ok, we can help you learn.
